Alive and well

Hello everyone! I have long delayed being apart of the blog/xanga world, but being out here has shown me how useful it is to keep in touch this way. So as I prayed about starting this blog, I hoped that it would show you life here, encourage you and lead you to pray. And thanks goes out to Joanne Kim, who introduced me to this blog. 😉

Overwhelmed but encouraged. Since I arrived Tucson, AZ to work with the Navigators at the U of A, things got rolling pretty fast. Adjusting to a new place, new job, and ministry have all at once been the biggest change of my life. I have had to adjust to new things such as having Carl’s Jr instead of Hardee’s, a regular dry heat between 90-105 degrees, to even learning how to love differently. And now that things are slowing down, I feel that I have the time to rest and to process.

Here’s a verse that describes my current state well:

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down but not destroyed.” – 2 Corinthians 4:7-9

In the first month here a couple blessings kept coming to mind… 1) I couldn’t be thankful enough for the ministry that I have been adopted into AND for the staff and the students that have inspired me to love God more. 2) My heart constantly goes out to the people back at home that are sending me and praying for me, I see the fruit of your loving support – whenever I look at the green here (which is oddly abundant even for this season) I think of you all on the EC. 🙂

Thus far since arriving we’ve gone on a staff retreat, met new students, started bible studies, and gone camping. Things are busier than I would have ever imagined, but it’s been refreshing to know for whom this is all for.

(My eye-slits have never been more noticeable – 😉 )

There have been a few incidents that have been a cause for prayer. In the first 2 weeks of school there have been a suicide and a death from stabbing in the dorms. In addition to that two of our students were in a car accident over the weekend.

1. Please pray that God’s Glory would be seen through these difficult times and that these events would lead to opportunities for students and other Christians to share their faith.

2. Pray for the students that they would be hungry to seek the Lord in the midst of all this tragedy.

3. For Staff: team unity, health & protection from the enemy and his schemes/lies.
